Laryngology is the specialised branch of Otolaryngology (ENT) that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the larynx (voice box), vocal cords, voice, swallowing and airway function.

Early evaluation is important, especially in cases of:

• Hoarseness lasting more than 2–3 weeks
• Difficulty swallowing
• Coughing up blood
• Persistent throat pain or unexplained ear pain
• Risk factors such as smoking

Vocal cord conditions

• Chronic hoarseness
• Voice problems affecting professional voice users (teachers, singers, speakers)

Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)
